Young victims of sexual violence

Help and support for minor victims of sexual violence

We provide a safe and supportive environment for all young people under the age of 18 who have experienced sexual violence. Our specialists are ready to listen and provide the necessary medical and emotional support.

First aid and support

It is completely understandable if you feel scared or confused after experiencing sexual violence. You may find it difficult to trust a stranger enough to seek help. However, it is important to talk about what happened and to get support. Consider whether there is a trusted adult or friend who could support you when seeking help.

Parental involvement

You may feel that you do not want to upset your parents and therefore choose not to tell them what happened. However, most parents, even if they are worried, want to support and help their child.

Medical assistance

If you seek help at the reception of the Women's Health Clinic of West Tallinn Central Hospital, we will support you in dealing with the situation. You can decide whether you wish to have a medical examination or receive other forms of help. You may stop the examination at any time if you wish. The doctor will explain whether you may need medication or testing for sexually transmitted infections, as well as options to prevent pregnancy. You can decide whether to proceed with any treatment or tests.

Additional support

If our specialists believe that your safety or wellbeing may be at risk, they may suggest involving a social worker. This will always be discussed with you in advance, and your wishes and concerns will be taken into account.
