Sterilisation Department

About the department

The Sterilisation Department is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sterility of instruments used throughout West Tallinn Central Hospital and its contracted partner institutions, ensuring the safety of patients and staff. It is a small production facility where medical devices are cleaned (with a washing disinfectant/manual if necessary), disinfected, maintained, and sterilised for reuse in operations and procedures.

The department is equipped with modern technology that meets the requirements of the European Union. The work of the Sterilisation Department plays a vital role in preventing hospital-acquired infections and ensuring patient safety. All recycling processes are controlled consistently to ensure a high standard of sterilisation and product quality. Steam sterilisation (134ºC and 121ºC) is used.

Paid services:

  • Manual and automated washing, decontamination (disinfection), routine maintenance, and steam sterilisation.
  • For decontamination and sterilisation of instruments, please contact the sterilisation department on weekdays 8am to 4pm.
