How to book an appointment?
You can book an appointment via the online health portal or by calling 626 1314.

Do I need a referral to attend an appointment?
A referral is required to book an appointment, except when seeing a gynecologist, psychiatrist, ophthalmologist, dentist, or dermatologist.
If you attend an appointment without a referral from your general practitioner or another specialist, the visit will be paid, and you will also be charged for any tests, examinations, or procedures prescribed during the appointment.

How much is the visit fee?
The visit fee is 20 €.
The fee can be paid in cash or by bank card at the reception desk.
The visit fee must be paid at the initial appointment with a specialist, including visits to the Emergency Medical Centre.
The visit fee also applies to appointments with physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, and speech therapists if you are referred by a doctor from outside West Tallinn Central Hospital.
Reduced visit fee (5 €)
The visit fee is 5 € for the following groups:
- people aged 63 and over
- unemployed persons
- people with reduced working capacity
- recipients of subsistence allowance and their family members
- mothers of a child under one year of age
- recipients of a disability pension or old-age pension under the State Pension Insurance Act
Patients exempt from the visit fee:
For outpatient specialised medical care, the visit fee does not apply to:
- patients whose unavoidable outpatient specialist care is immediately followed by inpatient treatment at West Tallinn Central Hospital
- patients under 19 years of age, upon presentation of an identity document
- patients referred to another specialist with a referral from a specialist of West Tallinn Central Hospital
- patients with a referral from a specialist of the same specialty from another medical institution
- pregnant women, upon presentation of a pregnancy card
- patients visiting a gynecologist within three months after childbirth
- patients undergoing renal replacement therapy (i.e., dialysis)
- patients receiving services according to the price list of paid health care services
- patients participating in prevention projects
- detained persons, including prisoners of open prisons (with a certificate of departure)
- patients referred from the nursing clinic
I am waiting for an appointment or examination. How will I be notified?
The hospital sends SMS notifications about appointments and examinations.
- For doctor’s appointments and examinations (except laboratory tests and rehabilitation procedures), you will receive an SMS or email reminder 23 hours and 45 minutes before the scheduled time.
- For dental appointments, an SMS notification is sent two days before the visit at 12pm.
- SMS notifications are not sent for laboratory tests or rehabilitation procedures.
How should I prepare my appointment?
- Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
- Bring a valid photo ID (passport, driver’s license, pension certificate, ID card, or student ID).
- Upon arrival at the hospital, disinfect your hands.
- First, visit the registration desk, where you will pay the visit fee or the fee for a paid specialist appointment, as applicable.
Please note: Do not come to your appointment, examination, or procedure if you have symptoms of a viral illness (such as cough, runny nose, or fever) or if you have had close contact with a COVID-19 patient.

Where can I give a blood sample?
Blood samples can be taken at six locations:
Nõmme, Merimetsa, Haabersti, Mustamäe, and North Tallinn health centres, as well as the Pelgulinna Women’s Health Clinic.

Please book an appointment for blood collection in advance via the appointment booking system.
After booking, you will receive a confirmation email.
Before giving a blood sample, please avoid:
- eating for 8–12 hours before the test
- drinks containing sugar or caffeine
- intense physical exertion
- smoking

Where can radiological examinations be done?
Radiological examinations are performed at six units of West Tallinn Central Hospital.

Where can I get vaccinated?
For vaccination, please register in advance by phone at 659 8594.
Vaccinations are carried out at the Infectious Diseases Clinic (Paldiski mnt 62).
How much does tooth removal cost?
The cost of tooth removal depends on the time spent in the treatment room and the procedures performed.
The minimum price is 50 €.
Can a panoramic X-ray be done without an appointment?
Yes, panoramic X-rays can be taken without an appointment. This is a walk-in service available at the Haabersti and Nõmme health centres.

Is there a visit fee for dental appointments?
There is no visit fee for dental appointments.
Dental treatment is a paid service from the age of 19.
Does a consultation have to be paid for even if the doctor only gives advice?
Yes. Even if the doctor listens or provides advice only, this is considered a medical consultation and is therefore subject to payment.
Does the Health Insurance Fund pay for dental care?
The Health Insurance Fund covers dental care for children up to 19 years of age.
For adults, the dental benefit is 60 € per year with a 50% co-payment.
For people with increased dental care needs, the benefit is 105 € per year. This includes, for example:
- pregnant women
- mothers of children under 1 year of age
- people with partial or no working capacity
- (old-age) pensioners

Can I get a dental appointment if I have an unpaid bill?
No. New appointments cannot be booked if there are outstanding invoices.

What should I do if I have a severe toothache and no appointment?
Emergency dental care is provided on weekdays to pre-registered patients only.
The service is available at two locations: Mustamäe Health Centre (Ehitajate tee 27) and North Tallinn Health Centre (Sõle 63). Appointments are handled in a live queue.
Same-day bookings can be made by phone on 609 0333 from 7.30 am, until all available slots are filled.

Before surgery
Where do I need to enter the hospital for surgery?
Scheduled patients should enter the hospital through the Emergency Medical Centre at 68 Paldiski mnt. The centre is located in the Building C of the hospital.
What do I need to bring to the hospital?
When coming to the hospital, please bring:
- photo ID (passport, ID card, or driver’s license)
- referral from your general practitioner or specialist
- results of previous examinations and tests
- daily medications
- necessary hygiene items
- change of shoes
- nightwear and/or bathrobe (optional; hospital clothing will be provided if needed)
Can I eat or drink before surgery?
Do not eat or drink on the day of surgery. The day before surgery, it is recommended to eat easily digestible foods such as porridge, soups, and dairy-based dishes. Drink enough fluids, at least 1.5 litres of water, tea, or juice in total.
Can I chew gum or smoke before surgery?
Refrain from chewing gum or smoking for at least six hours before surgery.
Do I need to wash before surgery?
Yes, take a shower, wash your hair and face before surgery.
Cut your nails and remove nail polish and jewelry.
Brush your teeth on the day of surgery, but do not swallow water.
Do not use cosmetics on the morning of surgery.
How much is the bed fee?
From April 1, 2025, the daily bed fee is 5 €.
The bed fee is paid upon discharge for each day of hospital stay, up to a maximum of 10 days.
The bed fee is not charged for:
- time spent in intensive care
- inpatient care related to pregnancy or childbirth
- inpatient care for minors
Do I need to remove contact lenses and dentures before surgery?
Yes, please remove glasses, contact lenses, and dentures before surgery.
How should I do if I cannot come at the agreed time?
If you cannot attend your scheduled hospitalisation, please notify us by:

In your email, include: your name, personal ID code, and the date of the planned hospitalisation.
For patients coming to the Women’s Health Clinic:
