Infection Control Department

About the department


Our primary role is to plan and implement infection prevention and control activities, including:

  • developing and updating infection prevention and control guidelines
  • delivering infection control training for staff
  • Identifying and monitoring healthcare-associated infections
  • detecting and managing outbreaks in collaboration with hospital departments
  • providing hygiene advice and oversight across the hospital
  • monitoring antibiotic use
  • developing and overseeing antimicrobial stewardship strategies in partnership with the pharmacy and microbiology laboratory
  • monitoring multidrug-resistant organisms in collaboration with the microbiology laboratory
  • providing specialist consultation with an infection prevention and control physician
