We provide emergency gynaecological care around the clock. You do not need a referral to attend the reception, and our on-duty doctors are available to assist with health concerns that require urgent medical attention.

A referral is not required to attend the reception.

At the reception, the patient’s condition and the possible cause of the problem are assessed, and the urgency of care is determined accordingly. In most cases, issues can be managed on an outpatient basis. Extensive diagnostic tests are not usually carried out in the reception area.

When to contact the emergency department

An urgent or immediate consultation with a gynaecologist is recommended in the following situations:

  • Suspected bleeding during pregnancy or suspected rupture of the membranes
  • Heavy gynaecological bleeding
  • Fever (body temperature of 38°C or higher) accompanied by lower abdominal pain
  • Acute, severe lower abdominal pain
  • Postoperative complications occurring within one month after surgery
  • Survivors of sexual violence
  • Bleeding or severe abdominal pain during pregnancy
  • A fall or other trauma during pregnancy
  • Reduced fetal movements
  • Signs of established labour or suspected rupture of the membranes
  • High blood pressure accompanied by headache, upper abdominal pain, or visual disturbances
  • Health problems after childbirth
  • Breast problems during breastfeeding
