Emergency and urgent dental care

Urgent dental care is provided on weekdays to pre-registered patients. The service is offered in two locations: Mustamäe Health Centre (Ehitajate tee 27) and North Tallinn Health Centre (Sieve 63). Patients are seen on a same-day basis in a walk-in queue.

Urgent dental care is a paid service. For insured patients under 19 years of age, treatment is covered by the Health Insurance Fund. For adults, the Health Insurance Fund covers treatment only if the condition qualifies as urgent. The need for urgent treatment is determined by the dentist.

  • Same-day registration is available by phone on 609 0333 from 7.30am, while appointment slots remain available.
  • Emergency denture repairs are a paid service. Appointments must be booked in advance by phone 609 0333. Walk-in appointments are not available for denture repairs.
  • The clinic is closed on weekends and public holidays.

Please note: Not all dental conditions that require treatment are considered emergencies. Free emergency dental care is provided only in cases where delaying or failing to provide treatment would be life-threatening or potentially life-threatening. If the condition does not meet the criteria for emergency dental care, treatment will be chargeable. The decision as to whether a condition qualifies as urgent or unavoidable dental treatment is made by the dentist. Further information can be found From the website of the Health Insurance Fund

Patients requiring urgent surgical care for conditions affecting the face and jaw (both children and adults) should attend the Emergency Department at Sütiste 19a or Tervise 28. You should seek emergency care in cases of fractures of the face and jaw, large facial wounds, severe bleeding from a facial wound, abscesses of the face and jaw (accompanied by high fever, visible swelling, redness, difficulty swallowing/breathing), and dental trauma.

Oral school reward

Children attending an appointment at the West Tallinn Central Hospital Dental Clinic can receive a small gift from the Oral School programme. If a child shows the dentist, via the Suukoll app, that they have successfully completed their brushing tasks and “sent the Suukoll home” by brushing carefully, they will receive a tube of toothpaste as a reward. More information about the Oral School app can be found here.

Adult dental benefit

At the West Tallinn Central Hospital Dental Clinic, the Health Insurance Fund reimburses €60 per year for dental treatment for insured adults (covering 50% of treatment costs). Pregnant women, mothers of children under 1 year of age, the elderly, pensioners, and people with partial or no working capacity are reimbursed for dental treatment at the rate of €105 per year. More detailed information about eligibility and conditions can be found on the website of the Health Insurance Fund.

Dental prosthesis reimbursement

As a contractual partner of the Health Insurance Fund, West Tallinn Central Hospital Dental Clinic is entitled to reimbursement for dental prostheses (€260 for three years). You can find more information on the website of the Health Insurance Fund.

Microscope-Assisted Dental Treatment (as directed by a dentist)

A dental microscope is a modern tool that allows dental procedures to be performed with greater precision. High magnification enables the dentist to see even the smallest details on the teeth and gums, supporting accurate decisions during treatment. Integrated lighting allows improved visibility in hard-to-reach areas, and video recording can be used to explain procedures clearly to patients. This approach guarantees high accuracy and comfort for the patient.

In our clinic, treatment with a microscope is offered by Dr. Anna Jakovleva. The equipment is in use at the North Tallinn Health Centre.

  • The service is available on with a referral from a dentist. Patients cannot book the service on their own.
  • Referrals may be made by a dentist at our clinic or a dentist from another medical institution.
  • Patients referred by another institution must bring their dentist's treatment plan or relevant documentation outlining the need for treatment and the reason for referral.
  • Our specialists work closely with the referring dentist or institution to ensure continuity of care and the best possible treatment outcomes.

Lifelong dental care

The dental clinic of West-Tallinn Central Hospital provides free dental care for patients who have been granted lifelong entitlement to dental care by a specialist doctor or GP. Lifelong dental care is intended for individuals with profound physical and/or mental disabilities. Detailed eligibility criteria are determined by the Health Insurance Fund. Further information is available on the website of the Health Insurance Fund.

In cooperation with MediCredit OÜ, we offer the option to pay for dental expenses in instalments. More information can be found on the website www.medicredit.com

Payment for dental care

Is there a dentist visit fee?
There is no separate visit fee for dental appointments. However, dental treatment is a paid medical service for patients aged 19 and over.

The higher dental benefit of €105 per calendar year applies to pregnant women, mothers of children under one year of age, people with partial or no working capacity, insured persons aged over 63, and people with an increased need for dental care. You can read more about the conditions of compensation here.
