Breast milk bank

Donating breast milk

The Women's Health Clinic at West Tallinn Central Hospital works in partnership with the Breast Milk Bank at the Tallinn Children's Hospital to ensure that donor breast milk is available as the best alternative for feeding babies born very prematurely or unwell when a mother’s own milk is not available.

Breast milk donation is voluntary and unpaid. The priority is always feeding your own baby, but if you have surplus milk, you are very welcome to donate it to the breast milk bank.

Handling and use of breast milk

Donated breast milk is analysed and processed before being used to feed premature and/or sick newborns. By donating breast milk, you are helping to give these babies a healthier start in life.

Data protection and confidentiality

Your personal data as a donor is only known to authorised Breast Milk Bank staff and cannot be accessed by others. Donating breast milk does not pose any additional risks to you or your baby, provided your baby's needs are covered first.

On this page, you will find information material on donating breast milk and consent forms for donation or feeding babies with donor milk.
