Breastfeeding consultant

The breastfeeding consultants provide advice and practical support to help mothers care for and feed their babies

During the appointment, the consultant can demonstrate different breastfeeding positions, provide guidance on feeding techniques, answer questions, and, if necessary, weigh your baby.

Breastfeeding support is free of charge. All women who have given birth may attend, regardless of where they received maternity care or where their baby was born.

Common reasons for seeking support include:

  • painful, cracked nipples
  • engorgement, prevention, relief, and, if necessary, treatment of mastitis
  • concerns about your baby’s weight
  • questions/assessment about milk supply
  • transitioning from formula milk to breastfeeding
  • support with weaning

Breastfeeding advice and support are provided free of charge.
