Health examinations for young athletes
Health check for young athletes
Health assessments for young athletes help evaluate their overall health, identify potential health risks and ensure safe participation in sports.
At West Tallinn Central Hospital, health assessments are available for children and young people up to the age of 19 who train regularly. The assessments help determine whether a young athlete is ready to participate safely in training and competitions and, where necessary, provide recommendations on maintaining good health and choosing an appropriate training load.
Regular health assessments play an important role in the early identification and prevention of risks associated with physical activity and help support the healthy development of young athletes.

Sports Medicine Health Assessment for Young Athletes
West Tallinn Central Hospital offers health assessments for young athletes. Appointments take place at the Rehabilitation Centre at Sõle 63, Tallinn.
West Tallinn Central Hospital participates in the preventive healthcare programme “Health Assessments for Young Athletes to Prevent Sports-Related Health Risks”, funded by the Estonian Health Insurance Fund (Tervisekassa). The programme aims to assess the health of children and young people who participate in regular sports training and to identify potential sports-related health risks at an early stage.
The health assessment is intended for regularly training children and young people up to and including the age of 19. It helps evaluate a young athlete’s physical development and ensure that their training load is safe and appropriate for their age. Health assessments for young athletes who meet the programme’s eligibility criteria are funded by the Estonian Health Insurance Fund.
