Tests for Lung Diseases

At the Pulmonary Diagnostics Unit of West Tallinn Central Hospital, we perform tests to assess the condition of the lungs and airways, support the diagnosis of lung diseases and monitor the effectiveness of treatment.

We offer the following tests:

• Spirometry — a lung function test that measures the volume of air exhaled and the speed of exhalation.
• Bronchodilator reversibility test — a test that compares lung function before and after administering medication that opens the airways, to assess its effect.
• Bronchoscopy — a procedure that allows the doctor to view the inside of the airways and assess their condition.
• Allergy tests — tests that help identify possible sensitivity to allergens. Results are assessed alongside the patient’s symptoms and medical history.

Guidance on Medication Use

We advise patients with lung diseases on the correct use of medication and teach them how to administer inhaled medicines. We explain how to use an inhaler and what to pay attention to so that the medication reaches the airways.

The aim is to help patients understand their prescribed treatment and use their medicines correctly. Together with lung diagnostic tests, this guidance supports the assessment of treatment effectiveness and the monitoring of lung diseases.
